About Josh Terry
Joshua N. Terry, CFA
President, The Garden Group
Josh Terry is the Founder and President of Shorewood Management and its affiliate Acis Capital Management, an alternative credit manager and registered investment adviser based in Dallas, Texas with approximately $2 billion of assets under management.
Prior to forming Shorewood, Josh co-founded Acis in 2011, which he helped grow to $3.7 billion in assets under management before his departure in June 2016. At Acis, Josh served as portfolio manager for all accounts under management, including an award-winning hedge fund, several separately managed accounts and seven CLOs. Josh rejoined Acis as President in February 2019 after acquiring it.
Josh previously ran the trading desk and structured products team at Highland Capital, where he also served on the investment committee and managed fixed income portfolios totaling over $10 billion of assets. He started his career at Stephens Inc. on its investment banking team. Josh has over ten years of experience investing in a wide range of asset classes, including structured products, bank loans, high yield bonds, distressed investments, credit default swaps, real estate and equities.
In 2016, Josh formed The Garden Group to target control investments in small businesses, including a two-time member of the Inc. 5000 and SMU Dallas 100 lists of fastest-growing companies.
Josh currently serves as Chairman of the Finance Committee on the Board of Governors of Uplift Education. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Friends of the Katy Trail. In 2018, Josh was honored as one of five finalists for the Good Works Under 40 Award presented by the Dallas Foundation and Dallas Morning News.
Josh received a BBA in Finance and Economics, summa cum laude, from Baylor University, where he played on the men’s soccer team. He has earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Josh lives in Dallas, Texas with his wife, Jennifer, and their two young children.
